What I don't understand is if you gave the cashier 50€ and only got 8€ change you would
demand the 2€ you had been shortchanged. I see DCC as the same principled crusade against being ripped off. Since you used a MasterCard, you have more protection considering the MC DCC rules state you only have to say you were not offered the option of paying in local currency. What's unclear is whether or not Citi will issue a courtesy credit or go for the chargeback. While we don't lose out either way, my hope is that this becomes enough of a nuisance that issuers start to push for chargebacks to force merchant compliance.
