Thanks all. Indeed it looks like UA swapped equipment tonight, flight is now scheduled to get into SNA at 11:13PM, will be interesting to see what happens tonight and tomorrow.

Been in that spot a lot of times - tough one. If you're on a refundable fare, this is usually the point I bag it, head to OAK and get whatever flight I can to LA. Assuming you're not on a refundable fare, that approach depends on your appetite to take $200 and light it on fire. I find during the holidays I'm more willing to. Nothing says fun like SFO in an El Niņo year.

They should lower the GS threshold at SFO this year for the IRROPs garbage we're gonna have to put up with simply because our dear city hasn't been able to figure out the runway situation in decades. </wishfulthinking>
If this was a refundable fare, this thread wouldn't exist as I'd have bought a WN ticket out of OAK already
