I`m ok with UA keeping things as they are.

Tried AC to PVG, there were 3 people in PY. The kettles would not pay the difference. I was there because I bought it hoping my upgd would clear no luck since AC has reduced the number of J seats on the 777 HD and the 787-8.

The PY seat is fine for a long daylight flight, so euro flights would be no problem. I feel the same with LH, though the product hard and soft is better than AC.

On Ac you get one J size main meal on a hybrid Y platter. The first glass of wine comes from J, other drinks are all catered from Y. The morning breakfast snack is the same as Y. On LH it seems like a more differentiated product.

On my two AC Asia flights I could not sleep very comfortably in the PY seat , so I scoped out a row in the back for lie flat. The purser gave me flack both times, but I ignored him.
If Y were full I would have had no sleep. The bigger screen is great, the service was 2 flight attendants for 21 seats, for meals, after that the FA serving the back part of J popped his head in from time to time.

The amenity pak was the old J one, I guess until they run out.

I would not do it again Trans Pac. This was on AC mainline, can`t vouch for Rouge PY to KIX.

Bottom line for me is that I can`t sleep on planes sitting up, so PY does not work for long hauls. I buy P or use my certs.

I will bet that to get into J after the PY intro on AA that you will have to book PY, it will be very hard to score the upgd from the Y cabin. That' s the experience for many at AC, where discounted PY trumps full Y for the upgd.

If UA kept E+ 3x3 that would be fine for me.
