I know we have because my husband adored it and wanted me to make it for him at home but I refused. Was a tiny little bistro so presumably a one-off preference of the chef. I apologize for overstating the concept ^ I haven't otherwise made a study of geographical preferences for this type of sandwich.
(maybe it's the standard Monte Cristo that is batter dipped? Wikipedia seems to think so
