I'd say it's entirely luck of the draw. I had a CDG-ORD flight on a new 763 and the FA was absolutely on point.
I've been yelled at for waiting in line to the toilet - in J - in the 'wrong' aisle, ie. not the side I was sitting in.
On another flight, a redeye from JFK to LHR, I was woken up two hours before landing to hand in my headphones. As messed up as that is to begin with, they were my
own - I would've enjoyed my sleep which I needed.
On a third instance, also a JFK-LHR redeye, I was denied coffee because I had slept into the start of breakfast service. There was still +1 hour to landing.
AA's stewardesses are horrible IMO. BA's flight attendants, on the other hand, are consistently good.
