As long as they meet the size requirement and fit in your personal carry-on allowance AND have no metal protrusions that could be construed as dangerous, you should be fine.
The "new style" ones are generally made of light metal through, and from what I know they have sharp dents to help when going on an icy hill.
If that is the case, I would definitely check it.
