Also, what about issues in the event of cancellation, etc? I don't think ATA will endorse its tickets to anyone else (you may want to verify this) - if you are on any of those sorts of carriers that don't have agreements with outher airlines, the company could end up buying you full Y tickets home, or pay you to be "on the road" an extra day or two.
