Luggage scales should be Inspected
Since several airlines have tightened the checked baggage weight limit to 50 lbs. I have been curious to find out if these scales need to be certified by the state that they operate in.
After speaking with several administrators of state W&M departments, I've found that these departments should be inspecting these scales.
By definition, any scale that is used to generate revenue is required to be calibrated and verified by law. These scales must display an annual certification stamp or sticker in clear view of the consumer.
Let your airline NOW this, because their frieght scales are covered but luggage is not.
I think that these are the type of reductions or nickel and dime manuevers that must be addressed.
