The AKL is the same story. One can codeshare to AKL, then do a Trans-Taisman to MEL from AKL. AQDs on the YVR-AKL, but not on the AKL-MEL part, but last year it would also not have counted. Ironically enough, last year doing the YVR-AKL would not have counted to wards 50% metal requirement, but this year purchasing it on 014 stock will count towards AQDs.
My question/point is that: If I understand the system correctly, all this talk of codeshares would not have counted towards 50% metal requirements last year, but this year can count towards AQDs. And the all the non-codeshare flights last year did not count towards 50%, so that counters, to a point, the AQD requirement. Or were codeshares counted in the AC metal requirement last year?
Codeshares did not count towards AC metal requirement. But given the ridiculous pricing of many codeshares, not to mention the other issues they create, many here (myself included) would prefer to avoid booking them.
