The GA was quite unfriendly (I was standby so I had already dealt with him) and I was watching as boarding started. Second or third man he makes him put it in the sizer, and it goes in when he stuffs it. GA tells him it has to go in and out without stuffing. He takes out a thick legal folder and puts the bag back in -- it slides in. GA then tells him he can't carry his folder separately and the bag needs to be checked. He is getting pissed off. He then hands the folder to a lady he was traveling with and she shoves it in her huge handbag and GA tells him he can't give carry-on to other people.

At this point another man behind them asks for a supervisor. It turns out the man behind isn't traveling with the couple, but was disgusted by the GAs attitude. A fourth guy joined the three of them - they waited to the side and a supervisor came, and the two other 'witnesses' basically lit into the GA about his attitude and the fact the bag fit the first time.

The supervisor apologized, waived them on to the flight. The GA wasn't part of that discussion.

I was happy to see other pax take the time to help out when an overzealous GA goes to town.
+1 Stories like these warm my heart. Then I re-read the first sentence and saw that it was AA. I really do get the feeling that the new crew at UA is going to stay true to their word regarding improved customer experience. The cuts seemed to have stopped and the moderate improvements have begun...free Y snacks, PQM bonus for F, better coffee, UC food improvements, etc. Let's just hope the pendulum stays here for a while...
