sorry, I obviously wasn't clear enough ... I've actually paid as low as $342 for a G fare SEA<-->DCA, but generally $395-$470; in both cases something in the low $600s is almost always available on a flight that I'd actually take if I don't want to play the SDC game

in most if not all these cases the actual FCM upcharge has been $160-$200, which imo is a very reasonable amount for a TCON

update: checking receipts, the astonishing thing is that I've been able to find these ~$400 G/A/P fares at T-24 to T-72 hours, DCA/BWI to both SEA and LAX
