Timely thread, as my wife and I will be in CW for the first time since about 1992, on a 777 from LHR to AUS in January. I chose 11A and 12A for us (fortunately my AA status allows advance seat selection). I'm somewhat anxious about the experience since we both love the AA 773 seat and the BA arrangement just seems weird. However, the BA service can't possibly be worse than we got from the snotty old ladies on our last AA J flight (LHR-JFK).
Right now, the J cabin is mostly empty. Does that reflect a light load (the flight is J9) or just the fact that most J pax can't pre-select their seats?
One of the great benefits of CW above pretty much any other J arrangement is sitting with a friend or loved one in adjacent seats. By selecting two window seats you remove that benefit completely. I'd urge you to select an A&B set, unless you are desperate to both have window seats.
