Economy comfort to Premium economy growing pains...

Since the announcement of moving Economy Comfort into a fare based 'premium economy' product, I've had the 'fortune' of flying several segments in C+ when my upgrades are not clearing, mostly due to FCM.

I honestly cannot believe that DL expects to garner real $$ by changing this into a class of service. A few of my observations:
  • Yesterday I was shopping for transcon travel for next spring, after the date of W fare introduction. Coach was $275, they wanted a whopping $661 for W, and $970 for F. Since I will be only gold next year, C+ isn't a guarantee at booking...but a $400 upcharge, really?
  • Recently I flew OAK-LAX-SAT on an award ticket. OAK-LAX was given a water only service for all of coach, and LAX-SAT they forgot to load the C+ snack basket supposedly. I can't imagine the feedback of people who will have paid for a W and not gotten the advertised benefits, since basically half the advertised benefits are around enhanced soft product.
  • I particularly enjoy how the C+ snack basket is basically the regular coach snacks, with kit-kat, bananas, and chips added as options.

I'm curious if/how these growing pains are going to be addressed when C+ becomes a pay to play product in a completely different way than it is today.

If DL succeeds with this model, I will be amazed at the stupidity and gullibility of my fellow travelers...particularly if they get in the habit of successfully charging $400 extra for a t-con round trip!
