I want to visit Notre Dame for the FSU football game next year. Is it best to stay in South Bend (is this even possible) or to stay in Chicago?

If I stay in Chicago, is the best way to get to Notre Dame by car?

I found some hotels in the far south suburbs--South Holland. This seems convenient to Midway and a straight shot over to IN.
