Yea it's more a question of CX Y vs KA J

Since I'm paying with points, those are the only two flights available for me on the day we wanna leave HKG to DPS.

For CX v KA, the scheduled aircraft looks like it will be a 773 on CX and A333 on KA. They have very similar business class products, see:
http://www.dragonair.com/ka/en_HK/tr...ess-class.html
and
http://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_H...ess-class.html
Four points to note though:
- CX often substitutes long-haul equipment onto this route (in the last month I see it has been operated by 744s, A343s and 77Ws). So if you choose CX you open yourself to the possibility of a nicer seat
- But that said, KA have in the past sent their A333 with First Class to Bali, and 8 lucky J passengers have moved forwards. That looks to be rarer than CX using long-haul equipment though.
- KA food is better (in my opinion)
- If loads are light, the KA flight is the first to be cancelled.
Thanks, those biz seats are actually a lot nicer than I though, maybe I looked up their older product. Also seems like consensus KA food is better.
@QRC3288 Yea I've got about 400k AA pts to burn between wife and I
Thx for the info, yea I def thought KA was a low cost subsidiary but seems like the opposite is the truth as you eluded to. Seems like a pretty good use of 45k AA pts so I think I'm gonna stick with the KA in J for HKG to DPS.
I actually managed to get all business class from DPS to LAX on the way back so I'm actually flying back from dps to hkg in KA J too and then I have a flight from HKG to TPE in CX J so that will be a good comparison although the latter is only a couple hours
