I was just about to hit the purchase button on a Samsonite Lite-Cube DLX cabin luggage 55cm x 40cm x 20cm, (roughly 21.6in x 15.8in x 7.9in) until I accidentally hit some articles warning about stricter checks in luggage sizes during check-in.

I am based in Europe and plan to do a lot of traveling in the coming years (both in US and in Europe, economy class) with this luggage and since I haven't travelled quite extensively up to now, I would like to ask if based on your experience, I'd be safe in choosing this luggage for cabin carry on purposes. I quite like it but it's a damn expensive purchase to make only to find out that I still will have to check this in anyway.
