Also, I've been to conferences twice at Opryland. I wouldn't have stayed there the second time except it is in the middle of nowhere.
The first time I went without status and they put me in the part of a suite that did not have a real bed and called it an upgrade. Getting that changed the next day was an adventure.
With status I got a first floor room facing a parking lot despite a preference for higher floors. I guess it had a bed so elites are treated better?
Gaylord hotels generally strike me as so big that it would take excellent management to run well. They do not have excellent management. In each of their themed areas (or some subset of the monstrosity) someone needs to be in charge of making sure reasonable requests are taken care of. It seems no one is ultimately responsible when there are problems. And that is the problem. I'd never stay at one if I can avoid it.
