Ambition in customer service is not an obvious priority for the ex-US management - this from a long time CK. Average to below average service (even terrible service frequently now) for above average prices is the apparent mantra.
J seats are better and I like the slightly more aggressive route map compared to the old more conservative AA management.
I used to recommend AA strongly to colleagues and friends. I honestly would be embarrassed to do that today even though they still get a lot of my travel dollars.
I've never flown Spirit. I'm sure they are worse despite this data. That is a low bar though.
I still won't fly United for any reason forever. Don't have to though - plenty of choice in air travel even with the consolidation.
