Just because some folk find KL a good destination for their needs, hardly a reason to get all astonished on them
I have lived, worked and travelled throughout SE Asia for nearly twenty years myself - and I rate KL as one of the better destinations. Certainly not the dullest by a long shot. Its not my top choice, but definitely better AFAIC than some other regional cities. There are various reasons for this, but those are my own preferences and may not be the same as other travellers.
I am not 'frankly astonished' when I hear that others don't have the same point of view.

Carry on...
Harsh, I don't think so, just my opinion after all! I did say major capital cities by the way and not some other regional cities, some inteesting, some less so. As I said, loved Georgetown. Re KL if someone said it was OK or was keen on shopping or food I wouldnt have roused myself, but to suggest it's a top notch destination compared to the completion beggars believe....IMHO
