It is definitely a question for EY. Because it is on separate tickets and not a OW connection, you shouldn't expect AA to do anything for you. They may in benevolence, but don't count on it.
What happens in a scenario where KHI-AUH is delayed, causing a misconnect for AUH-MXP, and therefore also a misconnect for MXP-JFK?
The first leg would be a separate ticket but would be EY-EY, and the second leg would be EY-AA but on the same ticket.
