Unlike a bartender or waitress, the concierge makes a decent living and may even earn kickbacks from restaurants and other tourist activities. I see no need to tip and indeed have never done so in well over a thousand hotels stays. Yet I receive great service from concierges because that is their job.
What is much better than cash IMHO is a word with the hotel or regional GM about how great their concierge is.
