Apparently Ryanair took a planeload of bookings both ways for their flight on January 1 between London and Eindhoven, Netherlands. Unfortunately the airport at Eindhoven was closed for the holiday!

So there were 150 passengers milling round outside the locked terminal, while the inbound flight couldn't raise the tower and had to divert to Rotterdam.
