I also fly out of ATL. ATL-SLC on Google flights might work for you as it routes thru DFW on one of the legs and can be done in one day. I also find zooming in to see fares on some smaller airports nets good fares. I have found some airports in WA state $100 cheaper than SEA. Good luck!
