I travelled on Cross country first class at the weekend, and that's the worst of both worlds. If they do sell cheap upgrades at weekend, then they certainly don't mention it. So you're paying full price, and there's absolutely no service.

In a way cross country first class during the week is about same as virgin at weekends.Virgins is always better than first class, just sometimes a lot cheaper...
