My TA usually puts me in touch with the property for daily stay and special requests/occasions. I like this better than loading him up with requests beyond the booking parameters.

I like to be in touch with the front office and concierge as soon as I know there's something I want to do at my destination. The best properties actually reach out and get in touch about stay requirements, bookings, requests, etc.
