I disagree, I have found the Marriott BRG program horrible. They ask in the form to provide a link with the competing rate, but wont click on it. All my seven claims the last 14 days have been denied "...because the cannot see the competing rate" - even though the link I have provided them clearly shows the competing rate. No clicks. No screenshots accepted. In the Marriott forum the (only) advice to break through the wall is to make a reservation on the competing site, and then describe in the form's comments field how to access this reservation. Are you kidding me? They are even worse than Hyatt's BRG which says a lot.
The SPG BRG program is fantastic, and the people there very nice. Many of them starts their email with "It is so nice to hear back from you again", and if there is a problem, they are willing to discuss it. If the program gets scraped in the Marriott merger, it will be deeply missed.
