All carryon bags should be FLUSH with the measurements and NOT HAVE EXPANSIONS of any sort. Yes, except for when, as the earlier posted stated, the bag dragon decides to unilaterally make up rules about "sliding in and out of the sizer easily" or some such nonsense.

And frankly, EWR's practice of holding up security lines so that redcoats with no authority at all can force everyone to run through sizers is ridiculous as well.
