The FDC immediately called (TSA?) to request an agent and processed my checkin. Bags placed aside, I sat in the front desk area while the TSA agent spent about 10 minutes making calls. He furnished me with a sheet of paper to present to security and walked me back down the escalator.*
At security, which was not busy, the agent requested a supervisor and within a few minutes my pass was accepted and I entered the security line.
All told this consumed about 30 minutes from entering the hotel checkin area to enter the secure area near gate 22.
*I find TSA at DFW to be among the nicest... and I admit that grudgingly.
A lot of people prefer to purchase a refundable ticket or use miles so they can skip the hassle with the DFW clerks. You may also be eligible for PreCheck if you go the ticket route..
