We will be driving back to Milan following our visit to Tuscany.
Many thanks
Can't offer guidance on those 2 properties, but I might also offer
Locanda dell'Amorosa in Sineluga, Tuscany , as another option. We've been twice--and love its rustic elegance and authenticity as a former hamlet-turned-hotel. It has amazing service, great dining (restaurant used to be Michelin not sure if still true), and wonderfully unique accommodation types. (We particularly loved the clock tower suite.) Its simple breakfast offering was its only weakness for me. Its location was stellar, allowing us easy drives of 20-30 min to the beautiful hill towns in the area, including Montepulciano, Pienza, and Cortona, etc. Montalcino and Sienna were maybe 45-60 min or a bit further drive...but those drives were highlights in themselves and very convenient on our way to Chianti/Florence. It also offers easier access into Umbria compared to most other Tuscany properties for those interested.
For the record, we preferred the rustic elegance of Locanda dell'Amorosa much more than the formal elegance of Villa San Michele in Fiesole/Florence or Il Pellicano, and the food/service/accommodation were of equal standard to those based on our experiences.
