I don't understand what DL was thinking with their Song brand. They try to keep it separate from mainline - SkyMiles only (no NW or CO miles), no lounge access for NW/CO club members, it's supposed to be cheaper and "trendier", etc. - but if you price out their flights, they are the exact same $$$ as DL mainline. If you look at YYZ-Florida trips, DL will even sell you a ticket YYZ-JFK on DL and JFK-Florida on Song at the same price as YYZ-ATL/CVG-Florida. DL promised in-seat videos, games and MP3s, but they've been extremely slow at rolling it out. Why didn't they have it installed to begin with? There's really no incentive to fly the trashy LCC brand if you can get a mainline flight at the same price. I wonder what an Asian bound passenger travelling on a KoreanAir codeshare Song flight thinks of the big mama dressed in green trying to sell them a martini or a mystery sandwich on board. They probably decided to take UA or NW on their next overseas flight.

DL was hoping New York and Florida residents would fly Song over JetBlue, but why would they? JetBlue offers a consistent and reputable product. Or one could fly mainline AA at the same price. Even HP offers a consistent JFK-LAX/SFO transcon product for $198 r/t.

UA is making the same mistake with Ted. They're selling mainline tickets to DEN/LAS/PHX with connections via DEN to a Ted flight. They're hoping the DEN o/d traffic will fly them over Frontier because there's a small E+ section at the front of the plane. But Frontier has generous seat pitch throughout their Airbus cabins and there's DirecTV in every seat. And who came up with these stupid names anyway - Song, Tango, Ted!
