The CFPB released
a pretty interesting document about the US credit market. There's even an EMV section in there. The number that stood out to me though was the number of cards; Americans on average have 4 credit cards, nearly 3 of which are "general purpose" (Visa/MC/AmEx/Discover) cards. I think that's lower than what's been reported, no?

But if the processor is common (MCX, Level Up, etc) then you use common app.
I'd rather prefer NFC, but my phone locks up often when I use Android pay... Obviously, there is no issue with using Level Up QR code.
So far it looks like a fair number of retailers would rather support a separate app than one built into the OS, so I can totally see the 20+ app scenario happening. I think most people simply won't bother and will just use a physical card instead in that case.
