I reread your post and wanted to add to this. I am 37 and I make the South Pacific my 'single' getaway destination to relax, re connect and recharge.

I venture to the islands in French Polynesia, Fiji, Samoa and the Cook Islands. I will tell you, I have never ever felt alone at all. There are always single people trveling in those islands, older single travelers, older couples, younger couples etc. , but the trick is to NOT stay at a resort, but rather a smaller family owned establishment where you all eat together family style right on the beach, and where you all can go on excursions together (usually offered by the hosts) and sit around in the evening chatting. Many times you can partake in the daily life of the hosts in terms of helping fish for dinner, etc. I wouldn't trade those 'alone' trips for anything.

There has never been a time that I have gone where there has not either been someone single besides me, or even an older couple. If you are concerned about the age, it is nothing to worry about at all. I've met Scottish couples in their 60's in Fiji touring the so. pacific for months staying in family run places, retired French couples doing the same thing in the Marquesas or on the atolls of Tikehau, Fakarava or the high islands of Maupiti and Huahine.

Trust me, at least in the south pacific, you will only be alone if you want to.
