There's a website called "travelchums.com" which has people looking for travel pals, I've never used them, but it's been referred often on the Lonely Planet board. Also the lonelyplanet.com message boards has a thread titled 'traveling companinions' also, there is also another very busy 'older traveler' thread also on the LP board.
