Trying to book DOH-SFO Business return for 2.2.16-29.2.16. Ideally want to use Avios but not showing much availability.

So a cash ticket booked on AA website for those dates is roughly $3k (£2,086), with the DOH-LHR legs operated by a QR380 and LHR-SFO legs on a BA747.

Marketed as AA 7989, AA 6190, AA 6187, AA 7986

The return BA flight on 29.2.16 is showing avios availability in First. Would I be able to upgrade that leg from CW to F using avios even though booked with AA and on AA codeshares? The passenger flying doesn't have any avios in their BA account but I have plenty - is that an issue and if possible who would I have to call to do that?

Would appreciate any other advice on how best to get from DOH-SFO, either cash or miles. QR will be operating a service to LAX by then and thats 196,000 q miles return but unsure how to tag on the SFO flights to same booking... EK fly DXB to SFO as well but thats not showing up when searching for cash tickets.

PS - dates are flexible 1+/- day outbound and return.
