Since I was a student, I thought Qatar was pronounced "KA' TAR' ", accents equally hard. I thought that a common pronounciation that was a bit off was "ka TAR".

Now, TV reporters is calling it "Cutter". One even prounounced it "Gutter"

Is this strange?
