I am contemplating spending 90K points for the Marriott Marquis from Dec 30th to Jan 1st and see if I can get any access to ball drop without standing in the line for ever. I called the hotel and very little information was provided.

I understand the ball drop rooms are sold out. If I stay at the hotel will I be able to step out at around 11:30 and see the ball drop? Need not be a stellar view. Wondering if anyone can chime in with past experience.

The internet is filled with mixed information with several trip advisor threads ending without any conclusion.
