Over the years of travelling to Tokyo, I've tried both JAL/ANA flights which depart 7pm (ish), arriving 4pm (ish) into Tokyo, as well as BA into NRT & HND.

My preference is for the HND flight, as our HQ is in Shinagawa and it's a short ride on the Keiku line there and I stay in a hotel in that area. I get an early check-in at the hotel and as my body clock is at midnight UK time when I get to the hotel, I'm ready for sleep at my natural time. I get up about 3/4pm in the afternoon after a pleasant sleep and get up, do some emails etc, then get set for meeting colleagues for dinner.

Other colleagues prefer the JAL/ANA timings as they think it works better for them to sleep on the flight (at their natural sleeping time), but this does not work for me as I can't really sleep on aircraft (irrespective of travel class!).

On the flight home, it's usually a chance to rest after a hectic schedule and some late night drinking and it's all about getting home. For me that means connecting up to GLA and getting home late afternoon, which is good timing for getting into the house and preparing for an early night's sleep.

I frequently find I have very little jetlag on this Sun/Fri (or Mon/Fri) trip.

YMMV!
