While third world airports suffer from a lack of process (and thus make such a service attractive) the UK suffers from infrastructure that doesn't scale to the number of users (and, again, make such a service attractive).
I have used a similar service at JFK, provided by AA. I probably wouldn't do it again because of the cost, but it was the most pleasant experience I ever had entering the US.
