My hope at this point is that they will restore the midday flight from JAX to ORD.

I did give in and ask for a midday flight connecting in CLT and there is only one award seat on the CLT ORD leg for the flight that would get us there on time.
So we are stuck.

What about JAX-DFW-ORD or JAX-MIA-ORD? There appears to be availability on both routings.

Another possibility is to connect to LON through another European city, e.g. Madrid. For example, there are two J seats on Iberia MIA-MAD on 8/9. There is also 1 F seat and 1 J seat on AA MIA-MAD (although if a second F doesn't open up one of you would be stuck in an angled-flat J seat).
