Fly or Drive Mumbai to Pune?
Hi all,
I'm planning a business meeting that will be in Pune. I'll be flying in/out of BOM and am wondering whether I'm better off flying or hiring a car for the trip to/from Pune? My rough schedule involves flying into BOM on an international flight one day. I figured I'd do some sightseeing and spend the night in Mumbai, and would then head to Pune the next morning for a meeting that will start after lunch. I'd then spend the night in Pune, have another day of meetings, and head back to BOM in the evening, to catch a middle-of-the-night flight to Europe. I'll be travelling with a couple of colleagues; they'd follow the same itinerary as they're relying on me to plan everything out.
Driving is attractive because it provides a bit more flexibility should the meeting end early or some such, but I suspect that flying will be more comfortable. Also, I don't have a good feel for the driving time involved-- I've seen everything from 2 hours to 3.5 hours as the time between cities. Our employer will pick up the costs of the flights or car hire, so the price isn't an issue; I'm more focused on reliability (getting to the meeting and getting to the airport to come home) and convenience.
Never having been to Pune, any and all advice is greatly appreciated!
