Well, this is not the first time the noise coming through a connecting door has seemed a bit much to me... I really think I will add it to the reservation request from now on - NO connecting doors! I mean, a little bit of privacy and quiet at the end of the day does not seem like an unreasonable request to me. And this last time I could hear every word they said, not just the sound of voices, it was kind of embarassing.

As for smoking... I remember staying at a resort in Arizona that had a connecting door to the suite next door (only two units to a building) and the building was non-smoking and of course my neighbour started smoking cigars.... we complained the following morning but they were checking out that day... still our unit smelled faintly of cigar all day long.
