Outbound I usually upgrade to Plus which is good enough as I won't sleep anyway and going back to C for a good sleep. If OT doesn't clear points upgrade always worked for me.

On the other hand I would not pay a huge premium for C to EWR, IAD or ORD as the flights are too short for a good nights sleep.
