Eastern European citizensip/passport: Worth it with E.U. expansion?

I like to solicit the opinion of Europeans and others knowledgeable about the forthcoming E.U. expansion.

Assuming you weren't a citizen of an E.U. member country and you could obtain citizenship in an eastern European country which is among the 10 short-listed to join the E.U. in 2004, is it worth it for the freedom of mobility within the E.U.?

I cannot imagine that freedom of movement/residency to the current 15 E.U. states will be extended to citizens of these new countries immediately.

I raised this subject with my friend who is of Polish origin and can obtain Polish citizenship and a passport if he wishes.
