It is advisable when arriving at your connecting gate at AMM to ask the GA to verify that the connecting bags have transferred. On occasion, I have had to fetch connecting bags myself from the baggage claim at AMM and then re-check them.
Low chances of a mis-connect, but advisable to be safe.
When claiming bags in AMM ex Europe, I have (rarely) seen bags tagged BKK;HKG;KUL;JED etc,which obviously are not meant to be there.So it does happen and a very good advice to ask at the gate,or in the lounge if you have access.
