I fully appreciate that formally speaking, this is a Practical Travel Safety and Security issues topic. But I also appreciate you leaving it open, as to me, this is an amazing selling point for AA's DFW hub. I could barely believe it when I cleared US immigration (as an ESTA passenger) simply by answering a few questions on a computer screen, after which I was released into the baggage claim area. Had I had an international connection, my bags would have been checked straight through. I've had the full gamut of experiences with US immigration over the last 27 years, via a pretty considerable number of gateways (JFK, EWR, ORD, IAD, IAH, MIA, TPA, SFO, LAX, DTW, ATL, CVG, DEN, MSP, RDU, CLT, MCO), ranging from horrible to very fast and painless, and this one wins by a country mile. Based on this experience, I would go out of my way to enter the US via DFW (at least until the day when all gateways become as easy to transit.
Also, if you'll forgive a non-US perspective, even though I started this thread, I'd struggle to tell you what the acronym USCBP, which you've decorated it with, stands for.
