My experience with claiming Qmiles and Qpoints from a BA flight.
Thought I'd share with FT my painful experience of getting a flight's Qmiles and Qpoints claimed into QRPC.
I booked a flight through a travel agency and they input my name into the system as:
First: ZSC, Last: C (alphabets are my initials)
My legal name is as follows:
First: C, Middle: ZS, Last: C
Took both flights (one in June 2015 and the return in September 2015), and was not surprised that it failed to credit to my QRPC account.
Took almost 4 hours of calls (10+ calls, each amounting to no less than 20 minutes) with QRPC's contact centre.
First few calls: 'My name has been input by the travel agency in the wrong format, can something be done about it so I can get my miles credited?'
They responded that it is possible and that they will submit a manual claim for me. The following few calls involved me finding out that no claim was ever submitted.
Finally, the matter was escalated to the main office in Doha. I explicitly requested a copy of the email to be forwarded to me, and I receive an email at the beginning of November with a representative stating that it will be done, and that it will take up to 3 weeks to process.
3 weeks pass and not a word was said. No points/miles either. Calls, again.
A week later and HALF of my points/miles were credited. Bear in mind, this is a LHR-KUL-LHR return trip and by the explanations of various customer service reps, miles/points are credited at the end of the journey in whole.
More calls, and I am just a few days short of being unable to claim the flight taken on 15th June (flights need to be claimed latest 6 months after date of flight). Finally, an agent puts in an urgent request and three days later, today, I finally get all the points/miles I'm supposed to.
TLDR; it takes a bloody long process and tons of calls when a mistake is made.
Thought I'd share my experience here so that others can learn from it.
