I wish I could remember to check the alarm clock every time I check into a hotel room. I cannot tell you how many times the alarm goes off at 5am, because the last guest set it and the maid probably bumped it to the alarm position while cleaning. It is always set to some horrible music.</font>
EVEN WORSE is when the hotel has thin walls, the room next door is now unoccupied, and the alarm goes off in there at 5.00 am and keeps going for the next 15 minutes. Oh, and if you ring down to reception, by the time the porter gets around to coming up it will have just switched off and you feel like a idiot.

Alternatively, if the room is occupied the occupant switches it off straight away but then gets up and has a thunderous 15 minutes under the power shower, which has the same noise-carrying effect.
