No delay posted on the booked flight = no break on the upfare. This becomes further upsetting when the delay is posted after the earlier flight has left. Most delays do occur that way, too.

Southwest is not the right airline for people who want cheap same-day changes to an earlier flight.
Thank you both for the quick replies. It's a big price difference ($50 vs $225) and a 5 hour difference so I'm conflicted about it.

Any other suggestions on how to maybe get a break on the price of getting an earlier flight?
