Hello friends,
My first post on flyertalk
On Wednesday I received an email from
[email protected] saying this:
Dear Sir or Madam,
After your drop off it has been noted/ you have informed us that the vehicle you rented had sustained a new damage.
Therefore we appreciate your help in clarifying how our vehicle has been damaged.
We kindly ask you to fill in our online form in order to support us in a few steps with the needed information.
Please use the link mentioned below which is active for the next 7 days.
And the linked webpages says ‘Bumper, rear / Driver side / scratch / > 4 inch (down to primer)’.
I found this strange because the rental was a week ago. We picked up the vehicle on Tuesday 24th night at Tampa and returned it at same location early morning on Thursday. At the time we returned they checked car and didn’t say anything about it. I received the receipt in email later that day and on Friday night I got the invoice. Neither of them mentioned any ‘damage’ item. And of course at time we returned the car we checked it and there was no new damage.
In the email they had a link to a ‘clarification’ webpage but all the fields were about ‘how did the incident happened’ and ‘what’s your address to bill’. There was no incident happened so I can’t really fill it. It seems they just want me to pay what I didn’t do and avoid any communication.

Does sixt really send out this thing randomly as people said in the forum? Me and my friend work for a major airline so we do car rental a lot but this is the first time we use sixt. But I lived in Miami for 2 years and I know this type of scam is quite often in Florida.
Does anyone has experience dealing with it? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
