After a week in Lille, France, the bottom of my feet looked like crackled old leather, while the water in Seoul, Korea (not nowadays), used to make one's skin smooth in record time.

While excessively soft or hard water is sub-optimal for other reasons, I certainly prefer 'soft' water as a hotel guest.

Any experiences with either ends of the spectrum?
